My love affair with Habitat started very young – I would follow my mum into Brighton and gawp, stroke and inhale the chunky, red velvet sofa that greeted us in their ultra hip, industrial shop space in the otherwise dilapidated, concrete structure of a shopping precinct; I must have been all of about 5! Move on 10 years, and with a blatant disregard for employment law, I applied for their Saturday sales assistant job at the tender age of 15 – yes, I got the job but, needless to say, all fell apart when they requested my national insurance number which wouldn’t arrive in the post for another 7 months! So, when my first interiors love got in touch – like a long lost beau, to ask if I wanted a slice for their bedroom furniture cake to review -how could I refuse?!
Ah, then reality dawned on me – we’re currently pre-extension and struggling for bedroom space as it is, adding more (all be it gorgeous) furniture to the mix was not a good idea. But a 3am nightfeed later, as I’m reaching to a wobbly bedside table for a dummy, I email the Habitat team back to let them know that yes, a bedside table refresh is needed – oh, and a bloody cool bedspread to go with it too! You see, as a mum with a young’un I spend a lot of time working my bedside table – it’s like my midnight work station. The Tatsuma collection sates my unquenchable thirst for all things Scandi inspired – with clean, simple lines and in an inoffensive white finish with beech detailing, it was a match made in Habitat heaven. Plus a little drawer to hide all those things the kiddies and mother-in-law aren’t supposed to see!
As for the bedspread, it’s a style lifesaver! Got dogs? Cats? Kids? A man? You so need one of these bad boys! Regardless of how hobo-chic my bed might look in the morning: crumpled, formula stained, jam smeared (ok, that’s me!) or dog paw-printed – throw this monochrome beauty over the top and my bedroom suddenly gives the impression that I’ve got my domestic goddess game together! What a win!
But who am I kidding? That bedside is a pit-stop for half-drunk bottles (the baby kind, not gin!) and snotty tissues, and I’ve cropped out th wrestling monsters to my left in the above pic! It all looked so peaceful for a minute.
Thank you goes to the Habitat team for gifting these lovely items for me to review and my family to destroy, erm, I mean, enjoy! x
