Only Girl Travel Guide: Family Glamping at Sumners Ponds Safari Tent

Relaunch + Giveaway

So, the kids are back at school (or very nearly for some), it’s time to regain a little more sense of a mummy routine again – sigh! Yes, no more endless mornings of dressing gowns and cups of tea whilst we decide what to do for today’s entertainment – no, no – it’s out the door promptly at 8.35am – dressed (well kinda!) and ready to go for the day (again, kinda!!). It was a little while before the summer hols commenced that I finally thought it was time to make The Only Girl a little easier on the eye (that’s the site, not me!), so took myself on a “blogcation” to the breakfast bar and got cracking with this fab team to turn my blog into my tech haven, aaannndddd ta-da!

But what would an official re-launch be without some sort of goodie-bag or swag?! We all know we only really go to launches to get our mitts on the freebies – so this is no different. As a thank you for sticking with me throughout the baron, behind the scenes weeks with no new posts; as a well done for making it through the summer holidays; as a pick-me up to the not being able to laze on the sofa with the kids watching crap until 10am and as the goodie-bag to this re-launch (bonus, you didn’t even need to leave your house or put on fresh mascara) – I’ve got together with some of my favourite shops to bring you some loveliness!

So, let’s cut to the chase, as that’s why you’re really here – this is what you could win by heading over HERE!

Mother of Boys – The Fear of Guests

Last Wednesday was a very exciting day (at least in my books), after weeks and weeks of waiting the architect was finally coming to our house to reveal the plans for our much needed extension (in case you haven’t seen the last blog about this, check it out!). The thrill, the wonder, the anticipation was nearly overwhelming, but this was soon taken over by The Fear!! The fear that only a mother of boys could possibly appreciate.

The Extension, Part 1: Planning & Inspiration

So, it’s no secret that we have a shed load’a kids (5 boys between us, in case you hadn’t been keeping up!), and with that many small peeps hanging around comes a requirement for space – lots of it! When we first decided it was a fab idea to get our two families and make one big mega-family, we each moved out of our relatively normal 3 bed homes (renting them out in the meantime) into one super-sized 5 bedder (rental). Whilst living with an abundance of space has been fun (and a bugger to clean!) paying copious amounts of rent each month is not so much fun – especially when we have our own houses just down the road! So, we’re moving back – oh, but we’re adding on a whacking great extension in the process!! THAT’s the fun part!!

Very Flattered – Amara Interior Blog Awards 2015

It feels as though I’ve nearly made my blogging full circle; it was winning the Amara Interiors Blog Award for Best Organisation Blog last November through my “day job” that finally spurred me onto starting my own, long considered blog. When I received the email a few weeks ago from the lovely IBA team informing me that one of my lovely readers (please let me know if it was you as all family, friends and colleagues thus far questioned have denied it!) had nominated me for a 2015 IBA I was gobsmacked – to the point where I emailed them back asking if they were really sure! Apparently it wasn’t a mistake!

Blogging to Jogging- FAIL!

I’ve never been a lover of exercise, in fact, I think it’s fair to say: I hate it! But combo of turning 30 last Dec and that during my pregnancy I was unable to move a lot due to agony caused by pelvic girdle pain (commonly known in our house as “fanny bone ache”), I vowed once I’d birthed my little bundle of joy I’d make the most of my regained mobility and go for a run!! Yes, a run!!
